Explore Amish society and heritage with a trip to the Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum, where beautiful, brightly-colored quilts and materials offer unique insight into this very different way of living. Regarded as one of the groups of "plain people," whose clothes, buildings and lifestyles are much simpler and less-ornamented than those of modern society, the Amish people do exhibit a distinct skill and style in their carefully-constructed quilts. The museum contains quilts that regional Amish women made between the 1870s and the 1940s, supplemented by other Amish items and artifacts that help to illuminate this society's past and present. Situated in the heart of town, other attractions within walking distance include the Lancaster Museum of Art and the Demuth Museum.
Open Mon. - Sat. 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Closed Sun.
Adults $6; Students $4; Children 17 and under are free.
